Zinaida Donetz

November 14, 1926 — December 1, 2020

It is with profound sadness we are announcing the passing of our mother on December 1, 2020.

Zina passed away at Elderwood Nursing Facility from complications as a result of COVID-19.

Zina was born in the Ukraine on November 14, 1926. When her country was at War with Germany, she was taken to Germany to work in their factories, and there she met her husband, Nicolas Markopolsky. Sadly her husband passed away and a year and a half later, after his passing, our Mom immigrated to the United States with her 3 young children, to provide them with a better future, settling in Syracuse. She worked very hard to make this happen.

After her children were grown, she met and married her second husband, William Donetz. They were married for 38 years.

Zina was predeceased by her first husband, Nicolas Markopolsky; infant son, Peter Markopolsky; and her husband, William Donetz. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Warren Jenkins.

Zina is survived by her son, Nick Markopolsky and wife, Kimberly; and her granddaughter, Mykala Markopolsky, who was the love of her life. She is also survived by daughters, Vera Jenkins and Anna Markopolsky; and granddoggie, Ella.

Per Mom's wishes, there will be no calling hours, and she will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery at a later date.
