Wooko Sung
June 10, 2011
Wooko Sung, 63, of North Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly at home, on Friday. Born in China, she and her family immigrated to Taiwan to escape communism in China. In 1971, she immigrated to the United States for a brighter future for her children. She lived in various places with family before settling in North Syracuse where she called "Home". Wooko retired from the North Syracuse School District with 30 years of service and was proud of the work she accomplished. During this time, she also owned and operated Imperial Chinese Restaurant with her family. She worked tirelessly for her family, never complaining and always smiling and being happy. Wooko was known for her celebrations, especially Chinese New Year, her garden and her love for knitting outfits for her family. She enjoyed preparing family dinners, teaching anyone how to cook Chinese dishes and playing MahJong in her spare time. In retirement, her most cherished time was spent with her grandson, Caden "BaoBao". She is predeceased by her brother, Li-Kong Hwang and her sister, Shirley Hartzig.
Wooko leaves to cherish her memories; her husband of 42 years, Sheng; two sons, Tzewei (Kathy) and Tzemin (Alison) Sung; daughter, Amy Sung; grandson, Caden Sung; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday 10 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Burial will follow at the North Syracuse Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
