Willie Floyd Morgan, 86, of Syracuse, passed away November 21, 2023.
Willie was born in Fort Gaines, Georgia on July 11, 1937 to the Seaborn Morgan and Equillie Mathis. Willie was a business man who loved his community and his family. He was a member of the ASHI, received the lifetime achievement award from the NAACP. Willie was a county legislator for the 23rd legislative district. He helped found the Syracuse Community Health Center and the Southwest Community Center. He retired from the City of Syracuse in 1995 as a city planner.
Will was predeceased by his parents, Equillie and Seaborn, his eldest son, Willie Jr. and his sister, Eunice Tibbs (Chief).
Will is survived by his wife, Irene; his daughters, Babette Morgan-Baker, Miranda Walker (Lincoln); and his son, Terrance Morgan. His enduring legacy includes his grandchildren, Jahmal, Janeria, Nathaniel, Brandon, Aaron, Gabriel, Malachi, Maximus and many great-grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters, three brothers, a host of nieces and nephews and friends and one godson, Azian Goodrich.
Calling hours are Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am at Abundant Life Christian Center, 7000 All Nations Boulevard, East Syracuse, with a service to follow.
