William "Bill" P. Virag Sr. 91, of Syracuse, went home to the Lord, with his family at his side on Sunday April 20.
Bill graduated from Syracuse University and worked for the City of Syracuse, retiring 26 years ago. He was a WW2 Army Veteran serving in the South Pacific and received several medals including 2 bronze stars. Dad enjoyed playing golf at Brooklawn and had an unforgettable sense of humor. He taught us that being with family and having a good laugh are most meaningful, also real happiness comes to you in small ways throughout your lifetime. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley G. Cameron, his children, Kathy, William P. Jr. (Theresa), Rose Marie LaShomb (Richard), Julie Cooper (Charles), Joanne Kowalewski (Joseph), and Nicholas J. (Susan), twelve grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 9:30AM at Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 4-7PM, at New Comer Funeral Home, North Syracuse.
