William E. Sloan

William E. Sloan, 87, of Camillus, passed away Monday with his family by his side. He attended North High School and then became a pilot and 2nd Lt. in the Army Air Corps, flying a total of 18 successful missions during WWII. He was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster and several Air Medals for accomplishing, with distinction, meritorious operational missions over enemy occupied continental Europe. He worked for Florian, Schaffer, Ferrar, Bratt & Burke. William was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing as a member of Arrowhead Golf Course. He is predeceased by his wife, Arlene Muriel Sloan, February 4, 2009.
William is survived by his, daughters, Kathleen (Garry) Luke, Marietta, NY, Diana (Joseph) Pollick, Mechanicsville, VA and Patricia Kielecki, Memphis, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth Skelton of Taunton and MaryLou Minahan of Liverpool.
Services will be private with Military Honors. There will be no calling hours.
