William L. Oakes (Bill) was born on September 19th, 1970 and passed away on Friday, May 28th, 2021 in Syracuse, NY.
Bill was born to Nancy Oakes and the late Clarence Oakes.
He leaves behind his children Billy, Laura, Amber, Wesley, Kayla, Laurie, Kristen and Jeremy. Along with his grand-children Katelynn, Adalyn, Jaxon, Jocelynn and Eric as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Bill is survived by five of his six siblings: Nan, Timmy, Shawn, Tinia and Ricky and he is predeceased by his youngest brother Clifford.
He was such a loving man, he always treated everyone like family. Bill was the kind of man that would give the shirt off his back to those he loved. He always had a story for every occasion and went out of his way to always try and bring his family together, even if it was just for a cookout or dinner. He knew he could always get us to show up for a big bowl of his spaghetti or chili. His passing came so unexpectedly and broke many hearts, but with the pain of losing him brings so much love through how much he meant to us and the imprints he left in all of our lives. His laugh was so goofy and just made you smile, his smile was so warm and he tried to make sure he was there for each one of us in his own way. He was a very stubborn man even up until his passing, but behind his stubbornness was the most loving and caring father, uncle, brother, son and friend you could find.
His services are being held Thursday, June 10th, 2021 from 2pm-3pm. We will be saying our final goodbyes at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212. Please join us to lay Bill to rest.
