William J. Smellie, 78, of West Monroe, passed away Friday at Loretto. Born in Trout River, NY, He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He retired from Western Electric after 33 years of service. He was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen in 1986.

William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary (Matthews) of West Monroe; daughter, Sue Smillie of Liverpool; sons, William (Laurie) Smiley of Liverpool and Lanny Smiley of Constantia; grandchildren, Shannon, Bryan and Wesley; brother, Robert (Janet) Smellie of Trout River, NY; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday noon at New Comer Funeral Home 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse. Burial will follow at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. A calling hour will be Tuesday from 11-12pm at the funeral home.

Contributions can be made to Loretto Nursing Home. 750 E. Brighton Ave., Syracuse, NY 13205.
