William J. "Bill" Poirier

William J. "Bill" Poirier, 77, of N. Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born November 23, 1934 in Syracuse son of the late Alphonse and Marion Lumb Poirier. Bill served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Bill married Jeanette Austin on August 9, 1958. He retired from Carrier Corp. in 1996 after 42 years of service. Bill was the former president of the Phoenix Seniors Club and past president and MC of the Carrier Xmas Parties.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette, 4 daughters; Terri (Wayne) Muller, Lori (Michael) Butcavage, Dina Poirier-Hayes, Brenda (Tom) Gural, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother, John Poirier along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was predeceased by his brothers; Ed, Hap, Al, Don and a sister, Helen Warner.
Bill will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, infectious smile and great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 to 7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. A Funeral Mass will be held on Sat. 10am at St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial to follow at North Syracuse Cemetery.
