William E. Oram

William E. Oram, 93, of Liverpool passed away Thursday at Loretto Nursing Home. Born in London, Ontario, Canada he was a WWII veteran of the US Navy attaining rank of Chief Petty Officer, retiring after 30 years service. He served on the USS Sante Fe, Boise and Shaw during the pacific campaign where he was involved on 67 naval battles. Bill was awarded for his service to his country with a Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with two Silver Stars signifying 10 major operations, American Theater Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and Good Conduct Ribbon with a Bronze Star. Returning to Syracuse, Bill worked for Gould Pump until his retirement. He resided in Liverpool for the past 30 years with his beloved wife, Florence Emmert Oram, who passed away in January. Bill was a member of the Train Club, Elks Club and the St. John's and St. Joseph's Seniors Organization. Bill is also predeceased by his brothers; John, Al, Bob and Paul Oram and a stepson; Bill Emmert.
He is survived by 5 stepdaughters; Beverly (Jack) Mclaren, Judy (Jerry) Spillett, Laura Emmert, Susan (Bill) Callahan and Brenda (Larry) Liberman, a stepson; Thomas (April) Emmert, 3 sisters; Gladys Van Dyke, Elizabeth McGinn and Patricia (Ethan) Rusaw, 24 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Monday at 12 PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, North Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Monday from 10 AM -12 PM at funeral home, 705 North Main Street.
