William Pierce

William C. "Bill" Pierce was born on March 11, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ son of Anna Marie (Ford) and William Charles Pierce and passed away on Friday after a courageous battle with cancer.
During WW II while on a mission serving his country in the Merchant Marines as an Oiler his ship was torpedoed and sunk. He was a service rep for J.P. Byrne Tire Co., a manager for Waldorf Restaurant, a welder for Carrier Corp. (retired), a payroll driver for ADP, an electronics sales rep for Ames Dept. Store, a disassembler for Mainstream Innovations, as well as a lifelong roller skater and Instructor, a decorated ballroom dancer with the Lamplighters, a member of the Moose Lodge, a good friend, and a great dad.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter; Elizabeth Gardner, 4 sons; Gene (Sue) McIntyre, Christopher, Stephen (Michele) and Thomas Pierce, surviving siblings; Eleanor Bez and Barbara Rogich, plus 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, companion Velda Amidon, and many, many friends.
Per his request calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse, with services to follow.
