William B. Johnson

William B. Johnson, 86, of North Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Tuesday. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy. He retired from General Electric as an Electrical Engineer. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. He belonged to the Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Syracuse Camera Club and the Rose Society. He enjoyed sailing, painting and the many smiles he received from his culinary creations. He is predeceased by his wife, Helen (Haithcock) Johnson, in 2010 and a daughter, Melanie (Johnson) Soderberg in 2007.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail A. (Roger) Payne, of Houston, TX; his son, Franklin H. Johnson, of Skaneateles, NY; five grandchildren, Cristina Treadway, Karen Teale, Sandy Morrissey, Paul Soderberg and Kelsey Soderberg; three great grandchildren, Sydney Treadway, Olivia Teale and Braden Teale; a sister, Louise Doddy; and several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be Friday from 11AM – 12PM with services to begin at 12PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse, New York 13212. Burial will follow at the North Syracuse Cemetery.
