Wilfred E. "Fred" LaPoint
November 9, 2015
On Monday, an AMAZING man passed away at the age of 87. Wilfred E. "Fred" LaPoint was born in Potsdam, NY, on July 24, 1928, to Ernest F. and Mary E. (O'Brien) LaPoint. He spent the last 25 years in Cicero, NY, with his beloved companion, Barbara Pelsue.
Fred is survived by his sisters, Marilyn Layaw and Joyce Phillips; his five children, Kathy Avraham (husband, Avi), Brenda Wallace, Mary Ahlberg, Barbara Agen (husband, Randy), Ken LaPoint (wife, Kristi); the children of Barbara Pelsue (son Dale and daughter Jodi and her two children); 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and his pesky cat Snoopy, whom he loved.
A master mechanic, inventor, story teller, comedian, and home remedy aficionado, his positive approach to life and abundant wisdom will remain with all who knew him. Just recently he said, "If you can make someone smile or share a laugh, you shine a light on humanity"!
Graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville, NY on November 21st at 11:00am. A gathering will follow for family and friends in Potsdam after the ceremony.
In lieu of donations or flowers, the family would love it if you could share a memory.
