Walter J. McGill, 83, formerly of Ashtabula, OH, and most recently of North Syracuse, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 18th. He was born in Lakewood, OH to the late Walter and Emma Josephine McGill.
Walter attended college for Industrial Design at Kent State. His love for industrial design continued throughout his life with his love of drawing of cars and aircraft. He served for 2 years in the United States Army. He worked in various sales jobs, the longest being at Wolf Gordon until his retirement.
He was an avid lifetime fisherman and went onto win many fishing awards and bragging rights. Walter was also an avid SU football, basketball and lacrosse fan. Walter will be remembered for his ability to spark up a conversation with everyone he came in contact with.
Walter was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Reta Irene McGill; brothers, Richard McGill and Frank McGill.
He is survived by his son, Christopher (Shari) McGill; step-grandchildren, Savanna and Brett Sherwood; step great-grandchildren, Shawd and Carter; brothers, Tom (Darlene) McGill and Tim (Denise) McGill; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Geneva, OH this summer.
