Walter Richard Haberek of East Syracuse passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at the age of 62. He lived a life of love and purpose and will be dearly missed.
Walt was born on July 11, 1958 in Syracuse, New York. His career in Hotel Management took him to many places around the country. He met his wife Melissa while on assignment in Harrisburg, PA. They married and eventually settled in Constantia, NY where they raised their son. Although he was diagnosed with T1 diabetes, a 2005 kidney donation allowed him to witness many milestones including weddings, graduations and the births of his three beloved grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, Walter is survived by son Ryan (Chelsea); grandchildren Dylan, Owen and Liliana; mother Joan; brother Paul (Terry); sister Carolyn Blanco-Losada (John); niece Karrie Coyne; and nephews Paul, Alex, Michael, Jacob and Evan. He was predeceased by his beloved father, Paul, as well as sisters Sharon and Mary.
A celebration of Walt's life will be held later in 2021. Until then, please plan to give the gift of life and register to become an organ donor at www.organdonor.gov.
