Walter C. Maddox, 90, of North Syracuse passed away Monday at James Square. Walt was an accomplished Jazz musician and was awarded a Sammy Hall of fame award in 1999. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corp in 1960 and also retired from Clark Trucking. He was a member of Teamsters Union 317 and local 78 of American Federation of Musicians. He was former member of American Legion Post 188 Liverpool, NY.
He is survived by his wife Karyle Hollady-Maddox, sons, Walter (Carol) of Syracuse; James (Katrina) Hollady of Palermo; 2 grandchildren Jeremy & Leah Hollady, a brother; Bernard of Naples FL and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, from 12-2 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St. North Syracuse. Service to follow. Reception after services will be at the VFW-Maxwell Ave., North Syracuse.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of James Square especially 4N for the love and care given to Walt.
