Virginia Joanne Thomasmeyer Lovejoy passed away at home on April 24 2023. She was born on April 10, 1932 to the late Christina and Theodore Thomasmeyer.
Jinny or Mum as she was known to many, had a full life and at the end she still had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. Her license plates stated exactly how she lived her life: "I am 3rd"- God is 1st, Everyone else is 2nd and I am 3rd.
She graduated from The Convent School in 1949 then went on to be in the first year of girls allowed to attend LeMoyne College graduating in 1953. Later she Graduated from Syracuse University with a masters in Early Education in the early 60's. She taught at Main Street Elementary 3rd grade for 22 years. When she was not teaching she was involved with her church, St. Rose of Lima, as an Eucharistic Minister, small Prayer groups and worked in the Parish offices. She was a Spiritual Care Ministry at St Joseph's Hospital. She was also a driver for Meals on Wheels until the 80's. In the mid 70's she had such a large heart that she took in her children's friends that needed a place. Hence the name "Mum". There are many that can call themselves "Mum's Boys or Girls" and remember her with great fondness.
Mum is survived by her husband, "Friend of my heart", Gary Brutcher; her daughter, Christine L. Lovejoy and son, Mark E. Lovejoy; her sister's Jill Keane and Joyce Thomasmeyer and brother, John (Mary Lou) Thomasmeyer; Grandchildren, Stephanie Gladys, Donald Lovejoy, Adam Gates, Jackie Perra and Amanda Lovejoy; As well as 8 Great Grandchildren.
