Victoria L. "Vikki" Vaughn, of Syracuse, departed this life on Monday July 8, 2024 in her home at the age of 60. Born and raised in Syracuse, by her late parents Ernest W. Brown, Jr. and Margaret H. Persing Brown. She was also predeceased by her sister Lita Brown. Vikki graduated from Corcoran High School and went to Central Tech & Contemporary School of Cosmetology where she received her license in cosmetology. Later graduating from the Crouse School of Nursing where she received her RN degree. She went on to receive her master's degree in nursing education from Keuka College. Vikki was honorably discharged from the US Navy. As the night RN supervisor for Van Duyn Rehabilitation and Nursing, she was in charge of all the nursing staff and the operation of the facility at night.
She was united in holy matrimony to Cameron Vaughn on August 30, 1986 she was blessed with several children. Vikki also enjoyed her children and doing crafts with them. Past time included knitting and crocheting, during the holiday time making Christmas ornaments with them. She loved going on long country rides with her husband. Vikki and Cameron were avid Pittsburgh Steelers fans. When they got married, Vikki made her first Thanksgiving turkey, someone asked, "What did you stuff it with?" She replied, "It came pre-stuffed." She also enjoyed her niece Monique, especially when William and Little Godfrey hid her in the toy box put the toys back in the box and had Stephanie (Monique's mother) and Vikki searching for hours. Monique had fallen asleep in the toy box, then put her under the bed to hide her again.
Her life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: William Vaughn, Kristin (Alex) Rosario, Tiffanny (Travis) Lockwood, Brie Mitchell, 5 grandchildren, Tay'Nia & Tri'Mel Lockwood, Jalaya Hall, Avi'Ayaan & A'Naria Rosario, her 2 fur babies, Zeus & Princess, all of Syracuse. Her brother, Ernest W. Brown, III, of Syracuse, her sisters, Harriett Brown of Rome, NY, Tina Fitzgerald, of Evansville, IN, Stephanie Etheredge, of Liverpool, Alicia Mayer of Oswego, her sisters-in-law, Domini Vaughn of Syracuse, Vonda Vosburgh of Caneadea, her special aunt Calistia Bacon, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and her nana Barbara Baum.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 18, 2024 from 1-3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
