Victoria (Vicki) Anne Stafford

Victoria (Vicki) Anne Stafford, 58, passed away Wednesday after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Syracuse and has lived in Solvay for the last several years. Vicki has been an interpreter for the deaf for much of her adult life. She worked for Community General Hospital for 23 years as a unit coordinator and interpreter. Vicki has worked with Aurora of Central New York since 1975. She has interpreted for numerous local schools and colleges including: Liverpool, Jamesville Dewitt, Fayetteville Manlius school districts, and Camillus Junior HS; OCM and Oswego BOCES; Syracuse University, Cazenovia, Lemoyne, OCC and Bryant and Stratton Colleges, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Cortland and Cornell University. Vicki has been a primary interpreter for Syracuse Stage since 1982. She was an Artistic Interpreter/ Coordinator for Syracuse University Drama Department. She interpreted for the NYS Fair Grandstand Concerts, the National Women's Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies since 1997, the 1994 Woodstock Concert, the Rosemond Gifford Foundation "Famous Author Lecture Series" and most recently has been working with Interpretek.
She is survived by her sister, Julia (Willard), niece Jennifer, nephew Michael Koagel in addition to numerous close relatives and friends including: Marcia, Amy, Joyce, Randy, Joan, Donnie, Joanne, Connie, Liz, Bonnie, Crystal, Tammy, Mike, and Gary and others.
Her "girls" Pidge and Petie will miss her greatly.
Services will be Wednesday, 10AM at St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
