Verna D. Mascari, 83 of Syracuse died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mrs. Mascari retired from Mattydale K-Mart in 2000 following many years of service as a greeter. Verna treasured her summers at Brennan's Beach. She was one of Syracuse's greatest NY Yankee fans and also enjoyed NASCAR. She was the matriarch of the Mascari family and truly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Philip Mascari in 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Ted (Marie) of Syracuse and Philip T. (Shelly) Mascari of Sacramento, Ca.; two daughters, Jill (Peter) Tallarico of N. Syracuse and Mary Campbell of Mattydale; two sisters, Jeanette Spaulding of Montana and Margaret Wilkinson of San Diego, Ca.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 pm with services to follow at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota.
