Vera J. Mort, 99, of North Syracuse stepped into the waiting arms of our loving Father on February 1, 2023. There to welcome her were her parents, W. Ernest and Bertha Robinson; her husband of 65 years, Louis J. Mort; daughter, Marti Stine; sister, Norma Pieplow and grandson, Andrew Mort.
Left to celebrate her life are sons, Rev. Wayne (Sheri) Mort, Edward (Kathy) Mort; daughters, Jan (Gary) Dahl, Laura (Chris) Nosiglia; granddaughters, Amy (Nathan) Wehrli, Stephanie (Chris) Buwalda, Stacie (James) Maddox, Katherine (Joseph) Drown, Holly (Nicholas) Palermo; grandsons, Drs. Matthew (Jenica) Stine, Jason (Eileen) Dewey, Michael Mort, Cameron Nosiglia, Daniel Mort; 13 great grandchildren; beloved nieces and nephews.
Vera was a WWII Army Nurse and served in the Pacific Theater aboard a hospital ship. She volunteered at her former church Andrews Memorial United Methodist for many years and continued to worship at Cicero United Methodist. Her hobbies included walking and crocheting. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She will be celebrated in a private service on her 100th birthday in July.
