Vasiliy Yakuta, 74 of DeWitt, passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 10, 1943 in Zarudya, Ukraine to the late Ivan and Varvara (Ostapchuk) Yakuta. For 15 years, he was a manager with Rivnensky Dept. of Trolleybus Co. in Ukraine.
He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, writing poems, socializing with others and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Mariya; son, Oleg V. (Angela) Yakuta; three grandchildren, Varvara O. (Patrick Mahar) Yakuta, Mariya O. Yakuta and Daniel O. Yakuta; In-laws Lyubov Kondras ,Viktor (Anna) Kondras and the rest of his relatives living in California and Ukraine.
Calling hours will take place at New Comer Funeral Home on Monday 10am-12noon. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens Cemetery, DeWitt.
