Tullio Mastrobattista passed away peacefully on March 16th 2023 at St Joseph's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Fondi, province of Latina, Lazio, Italy to Donato and Carmela Mastrobattista. He spent six years living in Germany before immigrating to the United States in 1967 and settling in Syracuse, New York.
A master of many talents, he worked for Laborers Local 333 in Syracuse until his retirement in 2002. In typical fashion, this retirement would only last a few months. He found a wonderful second career working at Wegmans where he was much loved by all who knew him. He spent the next 17 years working at the Taft Road location until finally retiring in 2019.
He will be remembered as a kind and genuine man, a tireless worker, a perfectionist and a master of just about everything. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix, grow, build or cook. He was protective of his family and passionate about his garden, his wine and his food. He had been known to, on more than one occasion, follow a waitress into the kitchen to inquire about their olive oil. He had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh, a big smile and a mane of white hair that was the envy of everyone he encountered.
He is survived by his one true love Marsha, who has been by his side since 1974, his daughter Bonnie (Vince) of Frisco, TX, his grandson Vincent who was the light of his life, sister Rita (Richard) of Brewerton, brother Alfredo of Fondi Italy, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Ennio, Bruno and Enzo.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 21st from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St Syracuse, with services at 7pm.
