Timothy Earl Smith, known as "Smitty" to many, was born in his doctor's office August 12, 1964 in Brewerton, NY to Lou Smith and Diana Jenks-Smith of Central Square/Hastings, NY. He was born the middle child of five when he gained another mother, Mary Croteau-Smith, the third eldest of fourteen. Timothy was a 1982 graduate of Paul V More High in Central Square, NY studied auto body repair at their BOCES trade school. He worked for several auto body shops in the Central Square area, as well as construction contractors locally and out of state.
He had one son Nathan Smith married to Rylie Bush Smith. Tim became a grandfather last year to a granddaughter, Kinsley Ann.
His star to fame was a drive-on part in the 1990 film "Quick Change" where he worked with Bill Murray. He built and worked on Rambo Monster Truck. His past times included drawing, photography, fishing, gardening, barbecues, and bon fires. He loved spending time with family, friends and children were always drawn his gentle nature and willingness to listen to everything they had to say no matter how unimportant to most. He enjoyed spending time outside and If there was a bon fire around he was the one who kept it going. Tim loved telling stories and had an ability to keep everyone entertained and laughing with his antics. Although a long time local resident he recently spent a few years in southern California on his brothers ranch where he bottle raised and spoiled several goats. He managed the ranch while his brother was recouping from cancer and he became a loved member of the church and was always willing to help out.
Timothy passed peacefully on Saturday October 2, 2021. He was preceded by both his mothers, Diana Ruth Jenks Smith and Mary Frances Croteau; a brother, John Alton LeBoeuf; and a sister, Ellen Marie Budzise. He is survived by his son, Nathan (Riley Bush) Smith; a granddaughter Kinsley Ann; his father Lewis Smith and brothers, Dwayne, Ronald, David "Heidi", Joshua Smith, Joseph and Adam Croteau; sisters, Kelleejean Lounsbery, Rhonda Johnston, Marilou West, Faith Alston, and Crystal Skiff; previous wife, Dawn Weakley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Wednesday (October 13th), from 2-3pm, with a service to follow at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St. North Syracuse, NY 13212 a celebration of life BBQ will take place in the spring.
