After suffering a major stroke in 2005 and given a short time to live, he proved the doctors wrong and gave us 11 more years to be with and love him. He was very aggressive in physical therapies trying to get back to top health. Unfortunately he succumbed to pneumonia in the end.
He proudly served his country and assigned to the Army base Fort Polk, LA. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and soon after fell in love and married his wife of 56 years, Frances.
He began his civilian career in the mailroom of Western Electric worked his way up to a management position before retiring from AT&T in 1989 after 34 years of service. Then to stay busy in retirement he was supervisor at Bennet Bolt and FlexAlloy, and delivered for the US Post Office in Clay.
Always active, he coached baseball in the Levittown Athletic Club for his sons and many of their neighborhood friends. Soon after, he became commissioner of the league. He did volunteer work with his wife for the American Heart Association and the Jaycees. He was a lifetime bowler with a 240 average and in later years took up golf and joined a league. He also liked cross country skiing, downhill skiing, and even tried glider airplanes.
Tom went to St. Agnes High School in NYC, then went on to graduate from St. Johns University in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he was on the St. John's basketball team. He was a long time communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero.
He was predeceased by his parents Thomas Sr. and Marguerite and sisters Katherine Campanella, Eileen Worthington, and Valerie Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife Frances, sons Thomas, Edward (Terry Lauzon), Steven, and Ken; granddaughters Sarah, Kelsey, Carrie and Leah, and five great grandchildren.
He was a proud father and doting grandfather, always entertaining with jokes and many magic tricks.
We will forever miss his sparkling blue eyes, warm smile and congenial personality.
