Thomas J. Constantin, age 86 of Syracuse, NY passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 of an acute illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Johanna E. (Lignos) and James Constantin; and siblings, Effie (Kenneth) Whitten, Robert Constantin, and Sandra (John) Smith; and sister-in-law, Maureen Constantin.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Mary Constantin; 1st wife, Patty Schilling; brother, William (Lisa) Constantin; children, James Constantin, Debra (Jeffrey) Matt, and John Anthony "John-John" Constantin; dear friend, Kim Hynes, and Lauren, with her daughter Adeline Annese and Lisa (Peter) Anthony; grandchildren, Suzanne Constantin, Taylor (JR) Vecchiarelli, and Jessica Matt; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tommy was a commercial and residential painting contractor. He owned and operated TJC's All Night Diner on N. Salina Street for over 30 years. He held annual picnics for years for his friends and customers, where hundreds would gather at Oneida Shores.
He was active in the community; He was president of the North Side Business Ass. He ran for the 16th District County Legislator, although he was not selected, he remained active to promote businesses on the North Side. Tommy also served as president at the John Venditti Italian Post. He organized many functions to support the post. He focused on charities and enhancing children's participation in the North Side Athletic Club. He organized the annual North Side Festival and St. Joseph's Annual Festival. He participated in many outreach programs in Elementary and High Schools. He loved to dress as Santa Clause at Christmas time and donate toys to children at the Venditti Post & North Side Athletic Club.
Tommy lived a long vibrant life! He loved sports; he was an avid Syracuse and Buffalo Bills fan. Tommy was very proud of his Greek culture including Greek dancing, listening to the bouzouki and speaking Greek with his friends. Tommy loved his family and he had the biggest heart and smile.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all medical and nursing staff on the 6H MICU at Upstate Medical University Hospital.
Everyone loved Tommy! He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
