Theodore Gregory Pinter, 69, of Clay, New York, went home to be with the Lord, December 26, 2023. His absence will be felt heavily by his beloved wife and family near and far.
Ted was born in Camden, New Jersey on October 16, 1954 to the late John and Matilda Pinter.
He was devoted to Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior, adored his wife, and treasured his family.
Ted fell in love with his cherished partner, Sharon, in high school while playing trombone together in the Audubon High School marching band. After they wed, he completed his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Drexel University and began raising his family with Sharon in his childhood home.
In the 80s, a job opportunity for Ted led him to move his family to Clay, NY where they settled permanently into the home in which he lived until the day he passed away. Upon moving to Clay, he became actively involved in Believer's Chapel church in Cicero, NY, where he loved worshipping and serving with his wife and three sons. He gave generously of his time and resources to serve those around him.
After he retired from his engineering position, he worked for many years as a bus driver before fully retiring to his favorite position as Sharon's to-do list fulfiller and hobbyist extraordinaire.
He faced many medical challenges throughout his later life including adult-onset type I Diabetes and most recently, an Acute Myeloid Leukemia diagnosis which resulted in months of chemo therapy, remissions, numerous complications and a bone marrow transplant – all of which he faced with positivity, patience, and an eager desire to spend more time with his love and the rest of his family.
Ted raised his sons by example to be loving family men and hard workers. He enjoyed skiing with them, sharing his engineering knowledge with them, teaching them how to play the piano and repair cars, and really doing just about anything together. He poured his heart and soul into his family and doted on his grandchildren any chance he could.
From the time he was a child, his family vacationed every summer at the Wildwoods in the Jersey shore – a tradition that he loved continuing to share with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. He never missed a summer of biking or riding along the boardwalk, eating Philly cheesesteaks and soft pretzels, and enjoying the beach with his loved ones. His many other favorite pastimes included riding his motorcycle, boating with his family, tinkering with his hobbies, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. His hobbies were ever-changing and most recently included bird-watching in his backyard bird sanctuary, growing plants, wine-making, selling absolutely anything and everything on e-bay, and fixing or upgrading his home – his handy-man skills were unmatched.
He was always eager to share his thoughts and ideas and loved including those around him in what he was doing or interested in. He would greet friends and acquaintances alike with the warmest bear-hug and loved to share his love of the Lord with others.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years and high school sweetheart, Sharon Pinter; three sons, Joshua Pinter, Seth (Christina) Pinter, David (Sarah) Pinter; Eleven grandchildren, Julia, Noah, Leif, Liam, Avery, Rafe, Tobin, Miles, Elijah, Adelaide, and Gemma; sister, Patricia Lee (Kenneth) LaPensee; brother, Gary Vincent Pinter (future sister-in-law Kathy Hart), and numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 5th from 4-6 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse.
A funeral service will follow at 6 PM.
The graveside ceremony will be private in Pine Plains Cemetery in Clay.
