Susan S. (Sue) Burke, 64, passed away peacefully due to kidney failure at the Commons at St. Anthony in Auburn, NY.
Susan was a lifetime resident of this area, moving to Auburn later in her life. She graduated from Onondaga Central High School, and from Onondaga Community College with a degree in graphic arts. She was a fashion illustrator at Dey's Department Store in downtown Syracuse, graphic artist at Pharma International, and had other freelance work. Sue had many hobbies and interests, such as taking trips to the Finger Lakes, fashion and shopping, getting together with family and friends, concerts, refinishing furniture, birds and elm trees. She adored her dogs Kodi, Peaches, Mickey and Kanuk and any animal that crossed her path. Most of all, Sue had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord, which was an inspiration to us all as she bore her health challenges with grace, patience, and peace.
Sue is survived by her sisters, Cheryl (John) Bowden; Stephany (Eric) Richardson; nephews, Douglas Walters, LJ Walters IV, Alex (Bridgette) Richardson, Caleb Richardson; great nieces, Zoe DeForge and Everly Richardson and great nephew Kayden Richardson. Also survived by her ex-husband and friend, Tim Burke.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Mary Stanton, brother, Joseph Stanton and significant other Dan Saltsman.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 18 from 4-7pm at New Comer, North Syracuse. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St, Lakeland, NY, Wednesday, 10am burial to immediately follow.
