Stephen C. Grove Jr, 73, of North Syracuse, passed away Friday at home. He had previously resided in the Oneida and Auburn areas prior to moving to North Syracuse 25 years ago. Stephen was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving in the Korean War. He retired in 1993, after 17 years as a tractor trailer driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking . He was a 30 year member of the United Teamsters Local #317. Stephen was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, the former JoAnne Elderbroom in 1993.
Surviving are his children, Stephen (Doreen) Grove III, Cheryl (George) Goldsmith and Gayle (John) DeAndrea ; three sisters, Mary Jane Higgins, Barbara Seek and Sharon Cox of; his brother, Dan Grove ; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday 10 a.m. at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse. Entombment will follow with military honors in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
