Stephanie Nixon

August 4, 1962 — January 6, 2025

Stephanie Nixon, a woman of faith, resilience, and boundless love, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, devotion, and inspiration.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Nixon; and is survived by her siblings; Renee Smith, Wayne Wyley, Gary Dandrich, Darcelle Dandrich, Stacie Dandrich; their children, including 7 nieces and 4 nephews; a host of extended family, and her cat that she loved dearly, Rain. Stephanie graduated from high school and pursued higher education, first studying computers in college and later stenography at trade school with aspirations of becoming a court reporter.

In 1991, she relocated to Syracuse, New York, to be closer to her beloved sister, Stacie Dandrich, and her niece, Trezure Jennings, whom she cherished as the daughter she never had and affectionately called "princess." In Syracuse, Stephanie found a spiritual home where she became an active and dedicated member. In 1995, she was united in marriage to Vincent Nixon. They were married for 15 years. Following the passing of her husband, Stephanie rededicated her life to God. She was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, which she counted as her greatest blessing. She joined Greater Evangelical COGIC, faithfully serving the church, coordinating activities, and giving her time and talents selflessly. She also contributed to her community as the secretary and treasurer of her residence at Valley Vista for over five years.

In 2017, following a near-death experience that she credited as a divine turning point, Stephanie became a volunteer at Upstate Hospital. Stephanie shared her compassion and energy, uplifting those around her. Her faith, kindness, and adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Stephanie embraced her second chance at life with courage and zest, finding new love and purpose in traveling to places she had once only dreamed of visiting. She often traveled alone, trusting in God's guidance, and celebrating the beauty of the world.

Stephanie's life was a testament to the power of grace, resilience, and unwavering faith. Her favorite exclamation, "Hallelujah!" reflected the joy and gratitude she carried in her heart. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, church community, and all who were blessed to know her.

There will  be a calling hour Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11am with a service to follow at noon at the Greater Evangelical Church of God, 4325 S Salina St, Syracuse, NY 13205.
