Stanley Petroff

Stanley Petroff of North Syracuse died on June 4, 2015 at Van Duyn Nursing Home at the age of 93.
He was born in East Syracuse, son of Slafko and Frances (Czebiniak) Petroff and raised in Syracuse. After graduating from Vocational High School Stanley enlisted in the US Army and served with Patton's third army in the finance corps through France and Germany until the end of WWII. After his discharge he attended Syracuse University and was hired by Carrier Corporation and worked in their computer department.
He later moved to a managerial position in data processing department at Farmer's and Traders Life Insurance Company and retired from there after 30 years. Stanley loved to travel and spend time with his family and with his grandchildren most of all and he will be greatly missed.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 65 years Lucile Whitwell Petroff, and sons John R, of Glen Head, Long Island; Charles S. (Nancy) of Liverpool, and daughter; Karen O'Neill (Roger) of Delray Beach, Florida. Also five Grandchildren: Rachel Kessler (Mark), William, Matthew, David and Joseph Petroff and two great-grandchildren Hadas and Judah Kessler.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the 4th floor of Van Dyne for their wonderful care of Stanley during his difficult illness.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-4pm at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse.
Burial will take place at Onondaga Veterans Cemetery.
