Shirley A. Schauer, a feisty, sassy and spirited soul of Liverpool, passed away December 15, 2022.
Shirley was born in Buffalo, New York on September 26, 1928 to the late Elmer and Evelyn Graeber. She attended Kensington High School and upon graduating worked at the phone company. Accompanying her husband to Syracuse in 1955, Shirley became a fulltime homemaker. Besides raising a loving family of boys, she worked at Boardman's/Service Merchandise, and Bristol Myers Squibb.
Shirley was a longtime communicant of Pitcher Hill Community Church. She was active in Home Bureau, the Wednesday Group (PHCC) and enjoyed bowling, ceramics, quilting and knitting. She particularly enjoyed the family camp on Wolfe Island and traveled to Egypt, Germany and Greece with friends. She was quick witted bringing smiles to whomever she met. Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 34 years Charles Schauer Jr. (1982) and her sister Delores Blatner (2014).
She is survived by her sons Bruce, Keith (Sandy) and Gary (Michele); grandchildren Jennifer, Bryan, Brian, Jeremy, Brad, Marc and Chuck; 6 great-grandchildren; a nephew Wayne Blatner and a niece Suzanne Campagna.
Calling hours are Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 at Pitcher Hill Community Church, 605 Bailey Road, North Syracuse where funeral services will be held immediately after at 4:00.
