Shirley A. Nicholas, 81, of Cato and formerly of N. Syracuse, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Born on August 25, 1937 to the late Floyd and Alberta Ruth Griffis.
She worked for the Pennysaver in Syracuse for over 20 years. She was an avid bowler, loved walking with her dogs, going on many cruises and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lionel Nicholas; children, Joadie (Larry) Spicer, Ricky (Donna) Shippee, Michael (Jackie) Shippee, Ronald (Esther) Shippee, Christine Gipson, David (Karen) Nicholas and Dianna (Daryl) Brann; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; siblings, Leon (Carolyn) Griffis, Judy (John) Anzalone and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her children, Patricia VanDusen and Gregory Shippee; siblings, Juanita Buck and Virginia Burtis.
Calling hours will take place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse on Wednesday, May 29th from 4-7pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 30th at 11am. Burial will follow at North Syracuse Cemetery.
