Shirley M. Lenio, 88, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on January 14, 2025 and went home to the Lord.
Shirley was born in Portland, Ontario on May 9, 1936 to the late Albert and Edna Gile.
Shirley retired from Allendale Board of Education in NJ and previously taught in Ottawa, Ontario for 10 years. Shirley started to travel at a young age eventually traveling to all seven continents. Her favorite form of travel was river cruises through Europe, and her last adventure was to travel to Antarctica completing her bucket list of travels. She was a master flower gardener and a very accomplished square dancer. She was a woman of faith, who belonged to Northside Baptist Church of Liverpool where she was involved with the Bible Studies and Senior activities.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Alan Myers; husband, John Lenio; parents, Albert and Edna Gile.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years, John Perry and her sister, Dorothy Mills of Kingston, Ontario.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 3-5 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals with a service to follow at 5 PM.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will follow services at the Church of the Living Word at 6099 Court Street Road, Syracuse, NY 13206.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vera House at 723 James St, Syracuse, NY 13203.
