Shirley Jean Batson Smith passed away peacefully on November 12, 2014. A long time resident of Cary, NC, she retired from the Town of Cary in 2000.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Constance Elaine Donahue and her husband, Charles R. Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Dean Smith Hicks of Syracuse, NY, and her grandchildren, Jessica, Connor and Carson. She is also survived by her brother Robert G. Batson, and sister, Hilda R. Sasser as well as several neices and nephews.
Shirley will be remembered as a loving sister, mother and grandmother with a sense of humor and wit that remained even in the face of chronic and debilitating illness.
A memorial service is planned for Monday, December 1, 2014, 11am at Bayleaf Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.
