Shirley E. Johnson, of Cicero, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born in Syracuse and lived there all of her life until her husband Robert W. passed away in 1986 and she moved to Cicero after his death.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Helen and a brother, James Earl O'Mara.
She was a housewife but had worked for many years at Thelen Iron Works and years later at Lennox Industries.
For over 8 years, she enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph's Hospital. She worked on the open-heart unit.
She is survived by a daughter, Lori A. O'Brien of Cicero; two sons, Robert W. of Cicero and James J. of Lakeland; four grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) and Joshua O'Brien, Kaitlyn and Meghan Johnson of Lakeland; two great-granddaughters, Cameron and Zoey; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Jackie and a very good friend, Kathy Taylor of Syracuse.
Visitation will be 3-6pm Sunday at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse. Funeral Service will be 11am Monday also at the funeral home. Burial at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St. Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057 or American Heart Association 5575 Thompson Rd. Dewitt, NY 13214.
