Shirley Anne "Nana" DiFulio (Neimeier), 84, of North Syracuse passed away Friday February 4th, 2022.
Born in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Herman E. and Mary A. Farmer Neimeier. Shirley attended North Syracuse High, where in 1955 during her junior year she met her husband Ronald DiFulio at a school dance. In 1956 she graduated and got engaged to Ron, and soon after the high school sweethearts were married in 1957. Shirley & Ron celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year, and in total spent 67 incredible years together. They enjoyed dancing in their younger years, and often times went out to dance the jitterbug.
Shirley was a devoted Mother, she is survived by children Kevin (Loris) DiFulio, Rickie (Patricia) Difulio, and Lori Difulio Sears. She was also an exceptional Grandmother to 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Her kids and grandkids recall her always making sure they knew how much she loved them. "Nana" very much enjoyed cooking for her family and always loved having their company, and her family loved her right back.
Shirley had 4 siblings to whom she was very close to and loved immensely, including Martha Guyder (Joe), Edward Neimeier, William Neimeier, pre-deceased by her sister Helen Collins. Shirley spent many years travelling with her husband for his job, planting roots in all New York, Ohio, Florida, Massachusetts, and finally settling back in Syracuse. During her many beloved years in Berkshire County, she was employed by the Red Lion Inn, working a job that she adored at The Elm Street Market in Stockbridge, Mass.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals at 10:00am. Shirley's husband Ron and granddaughter Joy would like to extend a special thanks to the couple's daughter Lori, who spent many years caring for her at home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Camillus Home Care Agency, 813 Fay Rd, Syracuse, NY 13219.
