Shirley C. Coon, 91 a resident of Liverpool for 60 years passed away Friday at Oswego Hospital with family by her side.
Born in Syracuse, she spent her early years in Eagle Village, moving back to Syracuse and graduating from Central High School. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards with friends and family, baking pies, the joy of grandchildren and the simple pleasures of life. Shirley worked many years at Chappell's and E.W. Edwards where she made many lifelong friendships.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Earl A. Coon who died in 1992.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Donna (Richard) Monaco of Liverpool; a son, Robert (Jacqueline) Coon of Fulton; a sister, Gloria Cardinal of S.C.; a brother, Richard St. Denny of Cal.; She will also be remembered with love by six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 7 p.m. on Tuesday at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St, N. Syracuse. Committal service will be 12 noon on Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA or the Humane Association.
