Shirley A. Congel, 80, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, daughter of the late Leonard and Kathryn Dougherty. She worked many years at Allied Chemical as a secretary.
Shirley enjoyed family gatherings, the holidays and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1997.
Surviving are her 3 children; Joseph Congel, Charlotte, NC, Tony (Christine) Congel, Syracuse, NY and Kathryn (Myles) McKeone, Poland, NY, 9 grandchildren; Rita, Frank, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Marisa, Bridget, Myles, Jr., Misti & Ashley, 6 great grandchildren; Emily, Myles, III, Molly, Gavin, Maya & Evie.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-8pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday 9:30 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse.
Burial will take place at Onondaga Veterans Cemetery.
