Sherrill E. Gugliotta, 83, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother passed away at her home in N. Syracuse on September 16, 2024, after bravely enduring peritoneal dialysis for six years. Sherrill was born in Syracuse on October 22,1940 to Harold K. and Eileen E. Baker. She grew up in the Valley and graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy in 1957. After high school, she worked at Blue Cross and married James J. Murray (deceased 1965). She married her husband of 58 years, Joseph Gugliotta, and spent the remainder of her life in N. Syracuse. She retired in 1994 after working 17 years at UPS. Our mom was a loving, kind and generous person who always put her family first. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and supporting their activities. She enjoyed making their birthday cakes and sharing their special moments. The casino was her happy place. She also enjoyed her bowling league and watching the NY Yankees and SU Basketball. Some of her favorite pastimes included going to concerts and movies, reading, and watching General Hospital. She was a devoted daughter to her mother during an extended illness.
Sherrill is survived by her husband, Joseph Gugliotta; her brother, Harold “Buz” (Gail) Baker; four children, Kimberly (Peter) Lounsbery, Karen (Richard) Thomas, Jennifer (Timothy) Doyle, and Joseph (Clara) Gugliotta; 6 grandchildren, Stephanie (Evan) Tucker, Hilary (Grant) Gettinger, Ryan (Paige) Thomas, Tyler (Ally Cifaratta) Lounsbery, Connor Lounsbery and Isabella Gugliotta; three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Tucker and Hudson Gettinger; her best friend Sandra Cantalupe; and several nieces and nephews.
