Sherman R. Parsons

Sherman R. Parsons, 78, formerly of Old Forge and Newark Valley, New York went home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 25, 2012.
Sherm retired from IBM Owego in 1990 following 30 years of service as an Electrical Engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, backpacking, fishing, and was a talented wood carver.
He was an active member and Deacon of Skyline Baptist Church in Rome, New York. He was also a US Air force veteran.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, the former Shirley Arnold; sons, Steven (Karen); Shawn (Janele); and Scott (Kerry) Parsons; brother Lynn Parsons; sister, Gail Stauble; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM on Wednesday May 30th at Grace Baptist Church, 17 Oneida River Road, Pennellville, New York. A memorial service will take place immediately following at 11:30 AM.
Contributions should be made in lieu of flowers to Care Net Pregnancy Center, 2412 Genesee Street, Utica, New York 13502.
