Sheila M. Osier

January 29, 1953 — December 17, 2024

Sheila M. Osier, 71, of Mattydale, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 17, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for everyone she held dear. Born in Syracuse, NY, on January 29, 1953, Sheila spent her life embodying kindness, joy, and a relentless dedication to family and community.

On August 7, 1971, Sheila married the love of her life, Daniel Osier, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted 53 remarkable years. Together, they built a home full of love and laughter, raising four children who were the pride of Sheila’s life.

Her love only grew as she welcomed eight grandchildren and she cherished her role as their biggest cheerleader, as well as an honorary grandma to their beloved “fur babies”. Sheila was a devoted professional, spending 22 years as a payroll tax specialist at ADP before retiring in 2018. But her passions extended far beyond her work.

From her days coaching Little League and serving on the PTO, to becoming an avid fastpitch softball scorekeeper, to playing Super Mario Brothers with her four children on the original Nintendo, to her steadfast support of her children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors, Sheila never missed a chance to be present for those she loved. An avid gardener, Sheila could coax beauty out of any patch of dirt.

Her quick wit and competitive spirit shone brightly at the card table, whether she was outplaying her family or sharing a laugh with friends. Her love for pressing her luck at the casino became a quirky hallmark of her adventurous spirit, always paired with a tune playing in the background, as she loved many genres of music.

She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Daniel C. Osier, and her parents, Chester and Beatrice Kotash.

Sheila’s love and laughter remain in the hearts of her surviving family; her devoted husband Daniel, her three adoring children; Tracey Roman (Todd Locey), Brian Osier and Jennifer (Joseph) Laroche, her two beloved brothers; Chet and David Kotash, eight grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private calling hours and service will be held for the family at New Comer Cremations & Funerals  on December 23, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of CNY, whose compassionate care meant so much in Sheila’s final days.

Sheila may have pressed her last button, but she hit the jackpot in the lives she touched. May she rest easy, surrounded by the music she loved and the flowers she nurtured.
