Sarah E. Hawkes-Bartlett, age 51, of Syracuse, passed away on Wednesday. She was born in Boston, MA on April 14, 1969 daughter of Douglas and Lora Hawkes.
Sarah was a lifeguard at Syracuse City School District for several years. She loved working to teach the children at school to swim, and also found a great deal of joy in seeing her grandchildren almost every day. Sarah was an avid knitter and she enjoyed trying out various other artistic pursuits. These creative pieces often became heartfelt gifts to her friends and family, who she cared for deeply.
Sarah married the lover of her life, David Bartlett, on October 11, 1991. They were married for 26 years and loved to vacation together and with their children and grandchildren. Both especially enjoyed the Adirondacks and the friends they made in Forestport, NY.
Sarah is survived by her daughters, Hannah Bartlett (Jason), Hope Bartlett, father, Douglas Hawkes, 2 grandchildren, Oliver & Moira Fowler, sister, Hannah (Eric) Preston, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband David, her mother, Lora Hawkes and sister, Heather Hawkes.
Visitation will be held on Saturday July 18th from 11-1pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
