Santa Mariano Catania, 89, was called into heaven on Saturday. She was born in Sicily and came to America, with her parents, John and Mary LaMacchia Mariano, who have since predeceased her. She lived most of her life in Eastwood with her dear husband, Frank, who predeceased her in 1988. She was also predeceased by her sister, Anne Buda Stagnitta in 1983 and another sister, Rose Cirino in 2008.
Mrs. Catania was a graduate of Eastwood High School in 1938 and continued on to business school for two years. Her family is very grateful for the care and attention she received from The Elderwood Facility at Birchwood.
Mrs. Catania is survived by her brothers, Dominick Mariano; Anthony (Frances) Mariano Sr., and Salvatore (Rosemary) Mariano; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Wednesday 11:00 AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St. N. Syracuse. Entombment will be private. Calling Hours will be Wednesday from 9 – 11 AM, before services.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to The Activity Department of Elderwood, at Birchwood, 4800 Bear Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088.
