Sandra G. Gilbert

Sandra "Sandy" G. Gilbert, 77, of Syracuse, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Sandy was born in Oswego, NY on May 25, 1946.

Sandy worked as an LPN for several years at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was passionate about caring for her patients. She was a member of the Living Word Church in Syracuse for 45 years, where she served in many capacities, most memorably as the fun loving Girl Scout leader. Sandy was a proud grandmother and the best Nanee to so many grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity for dressing up in costumes, dancing, playing games, rooting for and supporting each and every one of her "babies".

Sandy was predeceased by her two sons, James Burdick and David Gilbert.

She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Gilbert, her children: Jamie (John) Laurin, Vickie (Eric) Stephens, Colleen Canale, Angela (Stephen) McCall, Robert Gilbert, Elaine (James) Swaney, Bruce (Michele) Gilbert, Sandy J. Gilbert, Nicole Leggett and Jenise Gilbert, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 12:30pm - 2:30pm at Living Word Church, 6099 Court Street Road, Syracuse, followed by services at 2:30pm. Burial will be Monday, March 4, 2024 at 10:00am at White Chapel Cemetery, DeWitt.
