Russell C. Hewitt Jr.

Russ Hewitt, 66, of Liverpool, passed away with his family at his side on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at St. Joseph's Health Center in Syracuse after a brief illness.


Born in Youngstown, Ohio on Sept. 19, 1954, he was a graduate of Cicero-North Syracuse High School class of 1972.


Russ worked for more than 30 years for the Liverpool Central School District at schools such as Chestnut Hill Elementary where he earned a promotion to head custodian.


At his longtime home in Galeville he made a point to spend quality time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, baking and tending to his flowerbeds.

Russ was predeceased by his mother, Margaret (Peg) Hewitt and his father, Russell C. Hewitt Sr.

He is survived by his three children, Daniel Hewitt (Erika Peryea-Hewitt), Kevin Hewitt (Jessica Velasco), Terri Hewitt (Hank Humiston); five grandchildren, Tyler Haren, Will Potts, Troah Hewitt, Joe Potts and Jocelyn Hewitt; sisters, Maureen Hewitt, Peggy Phinney (Terry Phinney), Mary Hewitt, Bridget Burns (Patrick Burns); and brother, Bryan Hewitt (Renee Hewitt).

Russ is also survived by several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
