Russell C. Hewitt, 92 of North Syracuse, N.Y. passed away on Wednesday, December 28 at Crouse Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was born on August 23, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio. He entered the Navy in 1943, in Special Unit- Armed Guard until 1946. After World War II- Russ then went back to school and graduated in 1947.
Russ married Peggy Ann Cox of Youngstown, Ohio on July 16, 1949, then moved to Pittsburg. In 1957, Russ and (Peg) settled in North Syracuse. Russell retired from Remington Rand and Burns Manufacturing. Russell is a member of The Clay Sportsman Club, Lions Club, and V.F.W Post 7290. A communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and a collection counter after Sunday masses. As a faithful friend to many and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Russ exemplified a joyful life well lived.
Russell is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Peg Hewitt.
Survivors: daughters, Maureen Hewitt, Peggy Phinney (Terry Phinney), Mary Hewitt, and Bridget Burns (Patrick Burns); sons: Russ Hewitt and Bryan Hewitt (Renee Hewitt).
7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren who adored their Papa.
Services will be held on 10 AM on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at St. Rose Church, North Syracuse where a funeral mass will be held.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 4 to 7 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, North Syracuse.
