Roy Edward Werner, from Cicero, NY, passed away on December 24, 2021, at the age of 79. He was born in Jamestown, NY to the loving parents of Henry (1910-2017) and Helen Werner (1910 – 1987), on July 14, 1942. He is survived by his adoring wife, Lynn Werner. Roy and Lynn celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 3rd. Following a successful 36-year career with Lucent Technologies, Roy and Lynn retired and moved to Cicero, NY (from Dallas, TX) in 1998. They were blessed to spend those years together on the beautiful and beloved Oneida Lake.
Roy had many passions, including: fishing, gardening, cooking and as an award-winning wood worker. He was a leader, exemplified by his profession as an Installation Supervisor, and his years of leadership to his High School Reunion planning committee. He planned everything, hated watching TV, had a tool or a fix for anything – and always willing to lend a hand. Roy spent several years as a volunteer, primarily to Meals on Wheels, which he enjoyed with Lynn. Roy endlessly enjoyed living life on the Lake and holding court by shore with his many friends.
Roy is survived by his son: Keith Werner (Melissa), grandsons: Cody Smith and Seth Werner, niece: Karen Hackenfort (Kris), nephews: Ron Werner (Michele) and Paul Broom, III. Roy is preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Werner (Sally) and brother-in-law, Paul Broom, Jr. He was a dear friend and adored by the ones lucky enough to have met him, forging long-lasting and special relationships with many.
