Roy J. Bates Iii

Roy J. Bates III, 47, of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Roy was an outgoing person who always spoke his mind. He would do anything for the people that he loved.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, Loretta and Roy Bates, Jr. and a sister, Linda Piazza.
He is survived by his wife, Kellie of 11 years; 3 daughters, Jennifer Athey, Paula Athey and Angelica Reinhardt; 5 grandchildren; a sister, Diana Bates-Mittler; a brother, Jeffrey (Jeanne) Bates and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday 4-7PM at New Comer Funeral Home, N. Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of CNY or to Hospice of CNY.
