Rosalie McLaughlin, 80, of Clay, passed away peacefully with her three sons by her side on February 22, 2025. Rosalie was born in Syracuse, New York on April 14, 1944 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Libertucci) DeSocio. Rosalie retired from the Syracuse City School District after 25 years of service as an Elementary Teacher. She taught with enthusiasm, energy and compassion and treated every day like it was the first day of school. In retirement, she embraced her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren with silly sleepovers, lunch outings and field trips. She enjoyed crafting and shopping. Her kindness extended to all who knew her.
Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Libertucci) DeSocio and her brother Johnny DeSocio.
She is survived by her children, Anthony (Roxanne) Rachetta of FL, Rocco (Mary) Rachetta of Clay and Robert (Nancy) Rachetta of Clay; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Sandra (Frank) Costanzo of Baldwinsville; and several Nieces and Nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the MICU and Emergency Department at Crouse Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 4-7PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, where a service will follow at 7PM. A burial will be held privately in the spring at Assumption Cemetery.
