Ronald (Ron)S. Connelly

July 30, 1941 — August 12, 2012

July 30, 1941 - August 12, 1212

Ronald (Ron) S. Connelly, 71, passed away peacefully after a brief illness.

Born in New Jersey, he moved to Manlius in 1957. He and Al Krux co-owned and managed the Red Dog Saloon, Manlius, NY, in the 60's. Ron moved to Miami, Florida in 1970 where he earned a State of Florida Teacher's Certificate and taught Building Construction at Miami-Dade College. He was a builder in CNY and Florida for over 40 years.

Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He lived a full life. He loved a party and enjoyed good times, good food and drink, laughter and joy, and many memories with lifelong friends and family. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his daughters and grandsons and their significant others. Ron kept his sense of humor and was caring, kind and gentle throughout his final challenge.

Ron is predeceased by his first wife Sally Gregory Connelly.
He is survived by his second wife, Jeanne Medbury Connelly (Chittenango, NY); two daughters, Laura Connelly, (Miami, FL) and Tracey Wilhite (Fayetteville, NY); two grandsons Stephen Connelly and CJ Wilhite (Miami, FL); two sisters, Patricia Davies (Skip) (Manlius, NY) and Kathleen Hamilton (Roy) (Boise, ID) and several nieces and nephews.

This is how Ron would want to be remembered-

TO THOSE I LOVE
When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness
I thank you for the love you have shown
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It's only for awhile that we must part
So bless the memories with your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile and welcome you home.
